Danny Brown- Cyclops

I love listening to Danny Brown for songs like this  So crazy is all I can say.

H.I.S.D.- The Weakend (Album)

Two years in the making!  If you have a chance, grab this digital album.  You can listen to all the songs on the player, that way you won't be disappointed with the purchase.

Pries ft. Rockie - Supa Lovin

This dude is up next!  For more updates check out his Twitter here. And to think he's "only" a college kid.

Kid Cudi ft. Cee-Lo Green– Scott Mescudi vs. The World

I was over at Pigeons & Planes when I saw this one.  Cudi is the easiest artist to relate to for a lot of people, and this one proves true once again.  Great beat choice for this kind of song.

Curren$y "Pilot Talk 2" Cover Art

This drops on the 22nd, NOT the 23rd.  It was recently moved up a day forward.  This is a must buy.

Carlos St. John - Perfect (Black & Yellow Rmx)

Good looks from Baltimore Chris on the heads up.  Up and comer Carlos St. John puts in work on Wiz's hit track.  If you like this one, check out his new release "Good Morning, Forever."

Smoke DZA ft. Den10- Continental Kush Breakfast

I saw him live and have to say that he is the man.  Lovin this one from August.

Kanye West- The Joy

Check out this latest G.O.O.D. Friday from Kanye. Too many featured artists to list in the title. Wow he said "takin refills of that Plan B pill."  This is a different one, to say the least, but it's still good.

Friday, October 29, 2010

Phil Ade- "Toast 2 Life" & "Borderline"

If you like the two tracks above, they're from his latest mixtape "The Letterman." I really like Phil Ade and think he has major potential.

SPEAK!- No Distance Just Grace

Lovin the video and creativity.  I saw this dude open for Wiz earlier this year in Pomona, and he can put on a great performance.

Laws ft Emilio Rojas & Big K.R.I.T.- Hold You Down

I can't get over how ill Emilio Rojas' flow is, but they're all nice in this one.  They have such different styles, and it just produces a crazy track.  Sidenote: I haven't intentionally put up this much Big K.R.I.T., he's just killin it!  So I have to.

Homeboy Sandman - Calm Tornado

I saw this one at Nah Right and was pretty entertained.  Clever lyrics, exciting visuals, and a unique style is what you'll find in this one.

Curren$y- Pilot Talk 2 Promo (Pt. 2)

Can't wait any longer!!  Nov 9th for Cudi, Nov 22nd for Ye and Spitta!  Speechless.

L.E.$ ft. Big K.R.I.T.- Grippin Grain

Honestly this probably wouldn't be up if it wasn't for K.R.I.T.'s verse.  L.E.$. did his thing, but it just didn't do it too much for me.  The last verse went almost too hard though.  The alteration on this classic beat was cool.

CyHi Da Prynce- Sideways

Tight visuals for the song "Sideways" by CyHi.  Very well put together video, the beat is great, and his lyrics are on point.

Big K.R.I.T.- Somedayz

As soon as I heard this beat start I knew it was gonna be a nice track from K.R.I.T.  Then I remembered I heard this one before from him and got even more excited.  I loved it then, and I loved it now.

Show Tufli- Normal Sin

"F*** you if you don't feel real rap."<--- Couldn't agree more!  Gonna listen to Tufli more after hearin this.

Chris Webby- Stranger

I like this breed of new artists comin up out of areas where we usually don't hear dope Hip Hop from.

Eazy-E x Tupac - How We Do (Remix)

This is my all-time favorite mash up, word to Manny!  Could listen to this for an hour straight.

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Joe Budden- Follow My Lead

Budden shows us another, less glamorous perspective of the star life with this one.

Casual (of Hieroglyphics)- Rock My S***

His wordplay and rhyme patterns are so much better than a lot of artists out there.  Good song to vibe to.

Lupe Fiasco- The Show Goes On

Support Lupe!!  Expect more music from him until the drop of L.A.S.E.R.S....can't wait for that.  (March 8th)

Curren$y- Pilot Talk 2 Preview

This album will be way too sick.  He killed it with Pilot Talk, and judging by the progress he makes with literally every new track he puts out, this should be amazing.  Word to Creative Control.

Ghosty- UPS Is Hiring (Mixtape)

I copped this tape today and like what I've heard from it.  He's pretty skilled lyrically and this one is worth checkin out.  Here's a link for the quick download, sponsored at Datpiff.

Wiz Khalifa- Car Service (Live)

I've been lucky enough to see this performed by both him and Spitta separately.  The day I see it together will be a great one.

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Common x Lupe x Jennifer Hudson x No I.D. Create "We Can Do It Now"

They're making a song for the show "Replay," which gives former high school teams to reunite and play each other again, to settle a score.  Can't wait to hear this one in its entirity.

Big Sean - Final Hour

"The life of a workaholic."  Always loved this song since I first heard it off FF3, and I'm feelin the black and white concept in this video too.

Ski Beatz x Mos Def - Cream Of The Planet

Anything involving Mos Def and Ski Beatz together usually gets two thumbs up, and this is no different.

Monday, October 25, 2010

Nas x Damian Marley - Patience

Which track from Distant Relatives is your favorite?  This is mine. And I just remembered I posted this song Live on Jimmy Kimmel  earlier this month but whatever.

Fashawn - Streets of Fresno

Fresno is hot as hell for the record.  Word to Homan Hall.

Dom Kennedy- Interview w/ The Mash Up

Been listenin to Dom for a while now and you can tell hes been getting better throughout the year.  He mentioned the track "Locals Only" and I would reccommend listening to that one for sure.  Dope interview.

Hendersin - "Run This Town"/ On The Road (Mixtape)

Really like what I've heard from this dude.  He's very clever and also can mix it up with subject matter.  Check out his Facebook for more music and updates.  Here's a link for his mixtape "On The Road"

Hard Knock TV Interview With Wiz Khalifa

Hard Knock TV interviewed Wiz while on tour and it made for a great video.  Classic moments from Wiz in this one.  Clearly a real cool dude, as if we all didn't know that.

e-dubble - Automatic

First time I heard of this dude from Bmore.  Very impressive subject matter and lyrics.

Shawn Chrystopher ft. Cameron Wallace- Have a Seat, Shut Up

Not sure how I feel about that first verse to be honest, it's okay.  Shawn's verse is tight.

Kanye West - Dark Fantasy

This was the opening track to his film, Runaway, and personally it was my favorite.

Lyrics of the Week- Skillz ft. Freeway "Don't Act Like You Don't Know"

Like one of the comments on Youtube said---This is Hip Hop.  This whole song could practically be the "Lyrics of the Week," but I chose the opening line.  It'll probably go over most of your heads.  Listen to the whole song too, the rhyme scheme is amazing.
"I'mma be big like Pac with a Notorious theme.  All eyes on me till it was all a dream."

Kanye West - Runaway (Full-length Clean)

Ahhhhh that first track is too ill.  This was crazy all the way through.  Each song came with a whole new emotion and plot twist.  Kanye's creativity is out of the world and he killed each and every one of those beats.  Even if you don't like his music, or even if you dislike like him as a person or disagree with some of his controversial acts, as many do (including myself every now and then), you have to appreciate how he envisoned and put together this one.  Even though this is clearly imaginary, you can still feel what he goes through in the story.  Like for example, at the 26:40 mark when he finds out the Phoenix has to leave him for her own world, it makes you realize how much you really love your own girlfriend or boyfriend or whoever, and how hard it can be when you don't see them.  Then when he's running after her as she's leaving, it's obvious in his passion that something like that has happened to him before.  Makes you want to never let go of your loved ones and appreciate every single second you spend with that special person in your life!  KMK.  His album is coming soon.

Wiz Khalifa ft. Juicy J- In My Car (Tha Puff Boss)

Wizzle released this track on twitter 20 minutes ago.  Another good one, not surprisingly.  Download "In My Car (Tha Puff Boss)."

Cam Meekins- Cam Meekin's Day Off (Mixtape)

New music from Cam Meekins.  He's a young dude and definitely looks like it.  Don't let that fool you though, this tape has some good material.  Check it out.

Fiend- Exhibit F/ Audio Dope (Mixtape)

Last night at the Curren$y show, Fiend's mixtapes were passed around and I made sure to grab one of them.  This is my favorite track so far from Audio Dope.

Kanye West - Runaway (Preview)

This airs tonight on MTV, BET, and VH1, and this preview is too crazy!  Can't wait for this one.

Kanye West ft. Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco & Big Sean - Don't Look Down

Lupe starts it off right and sets the bar high.  Mos Def does what Mos Def does.  I'm loving Big Sean's verse too.  Kanye knows how to put a classic track together.  Favorite G.O.O.D Friday.

Curren$y- Life Under The Scope (Live)

First of all, apologies on the video quality.  Next time I'll come equipped with a real camera, but I was admittingly unprepared for this one.  Anyways, this is Spitta performing at The Bottleneck in Lawrence, KS for the Smokers Club Tour.  It was an oven in there for obvious reasons.  Big K.R.I.T and Smoke DZA also absolutely rocked the place.  All three had a connection with the crowd that not at all artists can create.  Great show.

Mac Miller - Senior Skip Day

This is off his K.I.D.S mixtape, which has been received with great praise.  It's hard to believe he's barely out of high school.

Joe Budden- Mood Muzik 4 (Mixtape)

This comes a few days early thanks to You Heard That New and 2dopeboyz.  Download here, let me know what you think of this one.

Stalley Interview

Stalley talks about working with Mos Def, among other things.

Thursday, October 21, 2010

Big Sean- Live at NYU

Word to my boy UKNOWGOOD for findin this one.  I'm loving the "5 Bucks" track off Finally Famous Vol. 3.  So did the crowd.

Wordsmith- Park & Ride: The Sunset Edition

Caught this one from Kontact x Black Knight's Twitter.  This track is from '08, but I'm serious about this dude.  He can spit, and his material seems endless.  By the way, these three all represent NU Revolution Entertainment LLC.  Be on the lookout!

Nas Discusses Greatest of All Time

I wouldn't necessarily agree with Nas on the statement that Hip Hop is too young, but I do strongly believe there is no "Greatest of All Time."  Obviously there are a few standout artists that have changed the game tremendously and deserve to be in the discussion, but it's a matter of personal opinion.  One person may bring up an MC that another doesn't even have in his/her top five. You can't pinpoint a specific artist and bring up factual statistics.  Album sales are practically irrelevant nowadays, so comparisons between rappers from one decade to another don't hold up.  What makes an artist great is different depending on who you ask.  Besides...what does it matter??

Karmaloop Interview With Curren$y

Curren$y discusses what's goin on lately with him and the success of Pilot Talk.  Tomorrow night I'll be watching him perfom along with the rest of the Smokers Club Tour!!

Bigg UU - Lonestar State of Mind/Trillmatic Vol.3: Hypomania (Mixtape)

Texas' own Big UU is relatively slept on but definitely has skills.  If you like "Lonestar State of Mind," catch his latest mixtape here.

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

Mickey Factz - Skyscraper

Factz is a beast and will never disappoint.  This has Nas-like attributes to it and will be on replay for months!

LA is MY Playground (Short Film by Jason Madison)

If you have about twenty minutes of free time on your hands, check this one out.  It's a short film documenting DOM Kennedy, Pac Div, and Nipsey Hussle- all LA artists on their rise to fame.

Crooked I ft. Joell Ortiz - Hard In The Paint (Remix)

The Slaughterhouse artists have such great chemistry together and kill almost every beat they hop on.

Curren$y- Blown Away

Old as hell off Spitta's This Ain't No Mixtape album, but it's timeless.  Dude in the white is Monsta Beatz, who created the beat.

Young Guru Speaks on an Important Issue in Hip Hop

Young Guru really articulates a lot of problems that artists and record labels have nowadays.  This is eye opening.  Hopefully some execs from Atlantic and Def Jam see this!

Skeme- Pistols and Palm Trees (Mixtape)

Nobody can deny the West Coast is coming harder than ever lately.  This tape from Skeme is sponsored over at Datpiff for good reason.  Get it ASAP!

Jon Connor- Toca Tuesdays Freestyle

Jon Connor is relatively new to a lot of folks, but all his new material is fire.

Nottz- You Need This Music (Album)

"You Need This Music" out today, grab it over at Itunes.  It should be well worth the money.

Freeway - Escalators (prod. by Jake One)

Would you expect anything else out of Freeway?  Truthful lyrics as usual.

Asher Roth ft Nottz - Dontcha Wanna Be (My Neighbor)

When the pictures of this video shoot were released a couple weeks ago, it became obvious this would be a fun song to listen to.  So true.

Monday, October 18, 2010

H.O.P.E. - Sincere (The Nas Tape)/ "One Love"

From the songs I heard off this tape so far (halfway through), it'll be on replay for months to come.  Listen to "One Love" first if you're on the fences whether to download or not.  Bet you will.

Curren$y x Fiend - Flying Iron (Winged Land Mines)

No... this isn't a repeat post.  They teamed up again for another track.  This one's over a simple, elevator-music-sounding type of beat, but it works so well.

Jon Connor- Epic

Dude has a great voice for rapping and flows perfectly over this beat.  No wonder Nas co-signed him.

Wordsmith- Show Me The Money/Touch Backdown

Wordsmith has a crazy energy to go along with his lyrics.  Good stuff on both songs.  He's been slept on for a little bit, but that should change, no doubt.

Nottz- Opening Track of "You Need This Music"

Nottz is just a beast plain and simple.  His album, You Need This Music, hits stores tomorrow!

N.E.R.D - I Wanna Jam

New song off N.E.R.D's upcoming album Nothing, which drops November 2nd.

Lyrics of the Week- Joe Budden (Unthinkable Freestyle)

Really good song from Budden, even though it's not too recent.  But to respond to the following quote.....not on this site man.
"These bloggers will have you thinkin that I'm abnormal, so when you read it, can't say I didn't try to warn you.  I respond so mature, so unlike Joe.  What they write, though, is all wrong, just a typo."

Max Haben- Run, Fly, Fall (Remix)

I saw this by a stroke of luck and was pleasantly surprised.

Talib Kweli Reacts To English Venue Cutting His Sound Mid-Performance

Found this interesting clip over at Rap Radar.  Apparently the venue cut his sound off at around the 2:30 mark, and Talib was not too thrilled about it.

Eyedea Tribute (RIP)

RIP Eyedea, at the young age of 28.  Spread his music and ideas!

Curren$y x Boo- Still Choppin

Spontaneous track right here from these two, but it's good stuff.

Skillz - Celebrate Life

The last couple of days the internet has been going crazy off Skillz' BET Cypher.  Here's a new track from him that should bring similar results.  Download it here.

Saturday, October 16, 2010

Common ft. Pharrell- Announcement

"This is Hip Hop, baby, I'm finna take it to the tip top, baby."  Great song.

Dice Raw- Crown On The Ground (Mixtape)

New mixtape from Dice Raw today.  Expect his traditional old school sound on a great selection of beats.  This tape is definitely worthy of a D/L.

Kanye ft. Keri Hilson x Pusha T x Cyhi The Prynce - Take One For The Team

G.O.O.D. Friday on Saturday morning?  Oh well.  This ones a catchy track with a catchy hook.  I wouldn't describe it as the typical Ye song, but it's good.  Literally and figuratively.

Curren$y x Fiend- Flying Iron

Gotta love it whenever Spitta teams up with Creative Control for a video.  Nice visuals to go along with a nice track.

Friday, October 15, 2010

Rufat- To the Top (Prod. by The Makers x DallasK)

Great song by Rufat here.  Is it just me or does this one get better with each verse?  He's definitely an up and comer in this game.

Mike Dreams- Just Waking Up (Album)

This album's available for download at DJBooth.net.  If you need someone to teach you about the grind, Mike Dreams is your man.

Don Trip- Letter to my Son

Heard this one thanks to Wale tweeting about it.  The name Don Trip wasn't familiar to me before this, but I'll definitely listen some more now.  Here's a link to one of his tapes sponsored at Datpiff.

Los- XXL Interview/Freestyle (HOT!!)

Been listenin to Los for a couple years but just now got him up on the site.  The rapping part of this video starts at about 5 minutes.  No lie, he may be the best freestyler out right now.  His wordplay is CRAZY, not only in his freestyles, but in his written raps too. You can listen to more of his songs at his Youtube channel.  Do not sleep on this one.  He'll rap about any topic, from the struggles growing up in Baltimore, to his time signed with Diddy.

The Kid Daytona- Fly Lullaby

This dudes got a real nice flow in all his music.  His album, Interlude, drops November 2.  Listen to "Fly Lullaby" right now at djbooth.net.

Nas x Damian Marley- Patience (Live on Jimmy Kimmel)

Anyone lucky enough to catch the "Distant Relatives" on tour should count their blessings.  These two are making history with each song.  Here's their performance on Jimmy Kimmel.

Fiasco Friday

It's finally Fiasco Friday today!  Not sure what the goal of it will be now since there is officially a L.A.S.E.R.S release date, but it will definitely make a point to all record labels that there are still plenty of us out there that want real music.  Those of use who aren't looking for another radio single or the next club banger can appreciate what these people are doing in NYC outside of Atlantic Records.  This picture is from Lupe's Twitter, where he also said he'll be outside at 2.  If there are any important updates, the Air Strike will have it first!

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Sean Rose- Rose to the Occasion (Free EP) and "Dream Blockers"

This video dropped about a month ago but give it a listen to see what you can expect on his new free EP, Rose to the Occasion.  He raps about real topics and does it well.  The name Sean Rose will be big soon.

Wiz Khalifa - Know Your Name

Wiz hasn't been promoting this track at all, so the hip hop world isn't sure whether it's new or been around for a while.  Either way its hot.

Shawn Chrystopher x L.A. Leakers Interview

Shawn's got a good message to share, and you can really get a good sense of his character in this interview.  His video for "Have a Seat, Shut Up" should be released today, so be on the lookout for that later.

Cyhi da Prynce- "Royal Flush" Mixtape

Royal Flush dropped today and it should bring his publicity up a bit.  Here's the link to the download, word to 2DopeBoyz.

Royce Da 5'9- 24 Bars Freestyle

To be honest, Royce just recently has been appearing on the playlist, and I must admit that I was sleepin on him.  Here's the proof.

This cypher is with the G.O.O.D crew, and it was just one of the great ones featured at the Awards tonight.  You can find all the others listed at Real Talk NY.

Yelawolf Discusses Mixtape Collab with Big K.R.I.T

Just the thought of these two Southern artists on one tape is crazy. He said it should be finished in a couple of months once they're both off tour. Definitely gonna be a hot one. Props to Rap Radar.

2Strikes- Criminal Minded

This isn't the type of music you'd expect from two young artists nowadays.  No talk of partying, clothes, cars, etc.  These two from San Diego have real content in their music, and it sounds good.  Their album, "The Drive", has more songs like this.

Kid Cudi ft. Kanye West - Erase Me

With both this and Big Sean's video (see below) being released at the same time, it's clear G.O.O.D is looking to takeover the hip hop scene.  Their creativity is second to none, that's for sure.  Can anyone try to argue that?

Big Sean- Living Our Dreams

The quote at the beginning sets the mood for this one and the black and white concept of the video adds to it.  Big Sean still doesn't get the recognition he deserves.

Curren$y- Audio Dope 2

The real holiday of November occurs on the 16th. "Pilot Talk 2" drops that day. Here's the video from "Audio Dope 2" off his last album.  Jet Life till the next life.

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Lyrics of the Week- XV ft Talib Kweli "Reset Button"

These lines are from Talib off an XV track on his latest mixtape "Vizzy Zone." The entire tape has verses this good too.
"I used to want a deal, but now I want my freedom.  These industry motha*****s, I don't f****** need em.  Matter fact, they need me.  The problem with their business model deeper than the scratches on a CD.  I see these rappers still sleepin, I call em ambien.  Consider me a beast, the epitome of a champion."

Lupe Fiasco Performs New Song Off L.A.S.E.R.S

With the release of his album coming March 8th, Lupe perfomed a snippet from this unheard track for Wake Forest's Homecoming the other night.  New material from him will be released in the upcoming months.  By the way, I got a chance to see him perform live in Daygo earlier this year in a charitable concert for child soldiers in Africa.  It was unbelievable.

Wiz Khalifa - Black & Yellow

Pittsburgh's pride and joy took over '09, and this year's been an even bigger breakout-year.  Fresh video to go along with the song that dropped a couple weeks ago.  TGOD.

Curren$y - Michael Knight

Tell your dogs they should beware of us! Too many good quotes in this one, video should be comin soon.  Grab the track here, thanks to 2dopeboyz.

Skyzoo- Speakers On Blast

All this new music from Skyzoo is nothing but medicine to heal this rap game right now.  When talking about the state of hip hop, he's been quoted as saying:
"People are taking the 'whetever we gotta do' method, resulting in gimmick records. I'm about making money but it has to be with dope records".

Saturday, October 9, 2010

Skyzoo- Digital Analog (Live)

Skyzoo kills this one live off his new album "Live From The Tape Deck".  You gotta respect his timing and the way he flows.

L.A.S.E.R.S MARCH 8, 2011

The most talked about "phantom" album of the past years has been Lupe's L.A.S.E.R.S.  After all the discussions, arguments, and Twitter-rants, the day is finally set.  March 8, 2011.  This album WILL single handedly change the game forever.  His lyrics and ideas are unmatched.  The best part of Lupe's music is that every song can change a persons life.  He'll never sell out or provide us with anything less than his best.  The first single from the album is set to drop Tuesday, October 26th.

Saigon- What a Life/ "Moral of the Story" Mixtape

Sai has had a crazy career so far to say the least.  Like Lupe, he had problems with Atlantic Records and has yet to release his highly anticipated album "Greatest Story Never Told."  We're all hopin that story can be told soon, and according to his Twitter he is looking for a DJ to come on a 30 show tour with him.  Here is my favorite tape from him, "Moral of the Story"

Poe Picasso - Attention Deficit Disorder (and "Exhibit A" Download)

In case you all missed the post earlier, heres another track from Poe Picasso.  This is off his older tape, Exhibit-A, and he absolutely kills it.  100% guaranteed that Poe will be featured more on the site in the weeks to come.

Thursday, October 7, 2010

Black Milk discusses his new group "Random Axe"

DK- "From The Outside In" Mixtape

If you like what you're hearin from DK, download his tape over at Datpiff, where its featured.  His flow is pretty nice and you can connect with his topics.

Dosage- "It" Mixtape

In San Diego I caught a Lupe performance and Dosage opened up for him.  It was one of the craziest openers I have ever seen.  From all the music I've heard from him, all of his songs have some sort of purpose and deep meaning.  Download his latest mixtape at Datpiff.

Curren$y Freestyles with Pitchfork TV

Curren$y has been my favorite artist for years now and he honestly seems to improve his sound with every new track he drops.  Its rare you see him freestyle but when one pops up every now and then its always nice.  More big things in the future comin for Spitta.  Good lookin, Pitchfork TV.

Lil Wayne's Final Letter to Fans

Just thought this was interesting enough to post.  Weezy is really positive and thankful in his last letter to fans from prison.  I really respect that from him and it shows that he is human just like everyone else.  We don't see that too often from Wayne in his music.  By the way, I found this one over at Rap Radar.

"Hello world. Time is ticking and I’m counting every second. Because of my new limitations, this unfortunately has to be my last letter. I don’t think people truly understand how much their thoughts and well wishes have helped me through this time in my life. Not everyone is as lucky as I am and it humbles me daily. You would be amazed what positivity can do in a negative environment. I’m going to miss reading about your lives. I’m going to miss looking at the pictures. They were the highlight of my days aside from speaking with my kids. Don’t stress over this in 27 days, the ride starts again.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who is supporting I Am Not A Human Being. It amazes me each time people go out and support my music. I’ll always be in debt to you for that. Keep rocking your “Free Weezy” tees and rocking out to my music. Trust me when I say this is almost over. I love you. I’ll continue to pray for all of you. Just keep doing the same for me."

Dez Goodz- Still Gettin Mine

I downloaded this dude's mixtape over at 2dopeboyz and its impressive.
